With New Year's Eve right around the corner, ABC is primed to give Mariah Carey another chance at helping ring in the new year after a failed attempt at last year's festivities. From Times Square, Ryan Seacrest and co-host Jenny McCarthy will watch the ball drop.

Mariah had previously admitted she felt "vilified" after the 2016 performance, which saw her singing out of time with the music. McCarthy said offering Carey a second chance was in line with this year's telecast theme of "Unity". In Times Square, Carey's performance will be a "unified", effort, as other musical performances on the program will include Sugarland, Camila Cabello, and Nick Jonas. Ciara will serve as the West Coast reporter from the Hollywood party while Lucy Hale will report from New Orleans. The Man, and Hailee Steinfeld will take the stage. We do wonder if things are reasonably subject to change at the moment, given that this is now slated to be one of the coldest New Year's Eves in recent memory.

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest is set to kick off on ABC on Sunday, December 31 at 8 p.m. EST.

Dozens Arrested in Iran's Second City After Protests Over Prices
The protests have continued even as anti-riot units of the State Security Forces were stationed extensively throughout the city. Videos published by a small reformist media group, Nazar, showed people in Mashhad chanting "Death to Rouhani".

Hosted by Lisa Montgomery and Jesse Watters, the special will feature performances by Andy Grammer and Lauren Alaina from New York City.

As the Waterford ball drops in Times Square, millions of people welcome the new beginnings with a celebratory kiss and a wish for an optimistic year to come. As the video shows, that didn't work out so well, so hopefully this year everything is set up for Carey to succeed in her shot at redemption.

Rockies, Wade Davis Agree to 3-Year, $52 Million Deal
Jeff Bridich was somewhat mocked for saying "yes" three weeks ago when asked if his team could win a World Series in 2018. The 31-year-old Davis played with the Cubs in 2017 and was the club's only all-star representative in 2017.
