Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $343M; Powerball reaches $440M

The Powerball jackpot is $440 million, and Mega Millions is up to $343 million. At the next drawing Tuesday, lottery players will have a shot to snag $361 million.

According to a Sunday news release from the Iowa Lottery, someone bought a Powerball ticket in Iowa worth $1 million. The cash option on the prize is an estimated $225.9 million.

And Americans do love buying lottery tickets.

The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since someone won at $42 million dollar jackpot on October 13. Three players from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland split the jackpot. The numbers drawn were: 4 - 10 - 18 - 28 - 62, MB 7 Megaplier 2X.
