Leigh Corfman filed the lawsuit yesterday.
Bronx Furniture Store Catches On Fire
New York City fire department tweeted that over 200 fire fighters continued to fight the fire at 1547 Commonwealth Ave' in Bronx. There were numerous injuries reported from the morning fire which took over 200 firefighters to control.
"The decision to sue Mr. Moore and his campaign committee was hard, but they need to be held responsible for their actions", Corfman said in a written statement to AL.com.
The lawsuit said that as a result of the statements made by Moore and his campaign, Corfman took a temporary leave of absence from her job without compensation. Moore has denied the allegations. Corfman said he took off her shirt and trousers and removed his clothes except for his underwear before touching her over her bra and underpants.
Moore lost to Doug Jones in a special election held to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions's open seat. "The strategy allows them to proceed even after the statute of limitations has run out for criminal charges or for lawsuits seeking damages for sexual abuse, as it has in Corfman's case". Just last week, after the election, they filed a lawsuit in which they once again called me a liar. In that case, two former ballboys accused a Syracuse University basketball coach of defaming them after they spoke up about alleged sexual abuse. Mr. Moore knew or should have known that Ms. Corfman's account is truthful because he was the perpetrator in the events she described.

'Mr. Moore's continued attacks against Ms. Corfman after the election and the content of his affidavit demonstrate that if not enjoined, he will continue to defame Ms. Corfman, if simply for the objective of furthering his political goals, ' Corfman's attorney wrote in the lawsuit. The suit "represents a fledgling legal strategy where people who say they were victimized long ago are litigating their claims through defamation lawsuits", the paper notes.
The lawsuit also pointed to the legal filing by Moore and his campaign on December 27, 2017 that was an effort to stop the election results from being certified by the state of Alabama.
