After much anticipation, Amazon Alexa has now eventually debuted on Windows 10 PCs and will sit alongside Microsoft's preloaded Cortana assistant.

Companies such as Acer, ASUS, HP, and Lenovo are all on course to deliver Windows 10 machines with Alexa pre-installed later this year (though it won't be equipped with all of the native features at launch), with some these expected to be shown off at CES 2018 this week.

The Intel Smart Sound Technology which is an integrated audio DSP (Digital Signal Processor), manages audio, voice and speech interactions through voice commands enabled by Amazon Alexa on compatible Acer notebooks while simultaneously providing high-quality audio without affecting system performance. Folks shouldn't be surprised to find out, then, that Amazon's been shopping for new places to integrate its popular digital assistant Alexa.

Sports reporter Courtney Roland found after disappearing in Houston
Roland texted her roommate that same day, saying she feared a odd man at a Walgreens was following her, Click2Houston reports. Houston police got a tip from a passeryby who spotted Roland under a bridge before 8:15 a.m. nearby time Monday.

The news has come as something of a curveball given that the strategy previously announced had been around integrating Alexa into Cortana and vice versa. Preinstalling Alexa on Windows devices could give Amazon the exposure it needs.

It's an interesting move for Microsoft, given that the company already offers its own voice-controlled assistant, Cortana.

Similar to Acer, HP also recently unveiled the Pavilion Wave that is specifically created to offer voice interactions powered by Amazon Alexa. Acer says that most of its desktop and laptops will be able to handle it, while other makers have announced support for at least of couple of offerings.

This could be a huge win for Amazon, which is now trying to stay ahead of Google with regard to in-home digital assistants. Like the Echo Show, Alexa's responses will be displayed on the screen.

People can already access Alexa on their PCs through an Amazon-sanctioned website for developers to test their Alexa apps, or skills, built for the Echo. Alexa making its way onto machines made by these brands could win it some favor among professionals, and the integration of Alexa for Business could help further its business appeal by helping with meetings, calendar management, and more. "Voice is a natural interface for interacting with technology and can make everyday tasks simpler", said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Alexa in the press release.
