Twitter shares increased by 5% after Facebook announced that it will demote business, brand and media posts in news feed shake up. And it's a lot like when Facebook published a set of "core values" that year to emphasise that "friends and family come first".

In a post on Thursday (Friday NZ Time), CEO Mark Zuckerberg said community feedback had shown that public content has been "crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other".

The move seeks to encourage more meaningful interactions between users and their friends and online contacts.
