The President of France, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, will address a joint session of the National Assembly during his official visit to Nigeria in July.
In December, Corsican nationalists swept the election for a new regional assembly, crushing Macron's young centrist movement and traditional parties.
But, speaking on a podium flanked by the French and European Union flags and not the Corsican one, Macron also said the Corsican language would not be given official status and added that local authorities would not be allowed to veto property purchases by non-residents.
Unlike many in the nearby Spanish region of Catalonia, the French island's leaders aren't seeking full independence - but some believe it's only a matter of time before they do.
"Though Macron is now implementing a reform that will allow regions to adjust the general law to make it more applicable for their specific needs, Corsica would like to go even further by having a special provision added to the French constitution based on Article 74, which is dedicated to French overseas territories, the lawmaker explained".

Macron began his visit with a tribute to Claude Erignac, the state's top representative on the island who was assassinated 20 years ago in an attack that shocked the country.
Earlier, Talamoni said he would be "dismayed" if Macron "closes the doors" to dialogue.

He said that they will continue their stir in all mandals and Assembly constituencies in Guntur district till February 15. To keep the pressure on the BJP, the party has said it will "make a noise in parliament" in the ongoing budget session.
