It was always going to be an event the US President wasn't going to like - and this year's Oscars have been criticised by Donald Trump for allegedly polling the lowest ratings in history.

Numerous show's most powerful moments came in between the awards.

Award shows have been a popular place for stars to speak out, whether it's the Academy Awards or the Grammys.

President Trump tweeted on Tuesday as results of the Oscars rating went public.

As for the show itself, the Oscars received mostly positive reviews for its host Jimmy Kimmel and its approach to the #MeToo movement and issues of inclusion.

That's the story, at least, that WWE and the 16-time world champion are trying to tell ahead of the big show in New Orleans. Serious: The Usos, despite being with WWE for nearly a decade, have not had a match on the main WrestleMania card.

For example, "The Shape of Water", which won Best Picture, has made $57 million domestically.

The genre-defying "Get Out", certainly the most timely of the films up for Best Picture, also scored four nominations.

"The Academy kicked him out and after they did I was curious so I looked it up, the only other person to be expelled was a character actor called Carmine Caridi, in 2004, who was kicked out for sharing screeners". Many presenters alluded to the fact that Hollywood is changing and will begin to allow greater opportunities for women and minority groups.

In 2017, Trump tagged The Devil Wears Prada veteran actress Meryl Streep the "most overrated actress in Hollywood" following her politically inclined speech in the 89th Oscars.

Based on the current Gallup survey, Trump received a 39 percent approval rating for the February 26 to March 4 period, which means that 61 percent of Americans disapprove of his leadership.

West Virginia teachers' strike ends with 5 percent raise
The obvious impetus for the strike lies in the state's bad treatment of its teachers, whose pay ranked 48th in the nation in 2016. That's one reason the statewide teachers' strike in West Virginia, which on Monday entered its eighth day, is so thrilling.

The most watched Oscars in history were in 1998.

At one point during the show, lead actress victor Frances McDormand finished an otherwise emotional tribute to the other female nominees with the term "inclusion rider", referring to a contractual clause that requires a specific level of diversity in the cast and crew of a project. It's the fourth consecutive year that viewership has declined.

That gives it a big edge in the advertising marketplace, as scripted programming is increasingly watched on a DVR, on demand or an online stream.
