Free agent tight end Jimmy Graham might be on his way to starting a bidding war.

An NFL source confirmed both moves, which were reported first by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Packers will release longtime receiver Jordy Nelson to save cap room.

The Sun Devils (21-12) are led by former Omaha Benson star Kianna Ibis, who averages 12.4 points and 4.9 rebounds this season. Oregon's eight-team bracket features a possible second-round trip to Marquette and quarterfinal match-up at Notre Dame.

"We can not thank Jordy enough for all that he has given the Green Bay Packers and our community for the past 10 years", general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. The team is in need of a pass-catching tight end while Graham had his greatest success as a player with Drew Brees as his quarterback. "Jordy will always be a member of the Packers family and we look forward to his eventual induction into the Packers Hall of Fame".

Nelson would have carried a $12.5 million cap hit for the upcoming season, as he still had one-year left on the four-year, $39 million deal he signed with Green Bay prior to the 2015 season. Teams can not officially sign players until Wednesday, March 14, but a big chunk of high profile free agents have already reached agreements with new teams.

Last season Nelson's numbers dipped.

Sammy Watkins reportedly joins Chiefs for 3 years, $48 million
Final terms of the #Chiefs expected deal for WR Sammy Watkins: 3 years, $48M with $30M fully guaranteed at signing, sources say. According to NFL .com, the Chiefs plan to sign Hitchens, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, to a deal worth $9 million per season.

Jordy Nelson is a free-agent. That, coupled with the Jimmy Graham earlier on Tuesday, has Aaron Rodgers' offense in a state of complete transition. The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Graham would fit the bill.

Nelson's 10-year run with the Packers ends as one of the top wide receivers in Green Bay history.

Prior to that, Nelson had three straight seasons with over 85 receptions and 1,250 yards. All six of those TDs came before Rodgers' Oct. 15 injury.
