President issues pardon to Cheney aide in Central Intelligence Agency leak

President Trump issued a full pardon Friday to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney.

Trump has rarely used his presidential power to pardon, but last August granted clemency to Joe Arpaio, a controversial Arizona sheriff who had been a longtime Trump ally and campaign-trail companion.

And there are many more people who can incriminate the president, whereas in the investigation into Ms. Wilson's exposure, Mr. Libby was one of the only people who could say whether the president had authorized the leak of a C.I.A. officer's identity. It's also a shot at James Comey, who appointed the counsel who investigated the leak of Plame's identity. Comey later became head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation but was sacked by Trump in 2017 and has since written a book highly critical of the president.

Bayern hold Sevilla to scoreless draw to advance in Champions League
Sevilla have struggled in La Liga lately, dropping to seventh in the table after losing 4-0 to Celta de Vigo on Saturday. Jerome Boateng starts in defence for Bayern Munich against Sevilla having passed a late fitness test.

Trump said he pardoned Libby, whom he doesn't know, because "he has been treated unfairly"-a claim Plame shredded as completely false. Hopefully, this full pardon will help rectify a very sad portion of his life", according to a statement issued by White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders announcing the pardon".

I hoped that President Bush might pardon Libby. Three years later, he was cleared to practice law again after the District of Columbia Court of Appeals reinstated him to the D.C. Bar.

Still others view it as an ominous sign as indictments continue to grow in Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) raised $0.279499999999999 during a day
According to CryptoCompare, " Waltonchain is a cryptocurrency project leveraging the Ethereum blockchain and RFID technology". The last time BTC saw $8,000 was near the end of March, after which it dropped and kept moving in the $6k - $7k range.

In all, eight witnesses, many of them high-ranking members of the Bush administration, contradicted Libby's testimony. Some argued that, as Hamilton put it, “the supposition of the connivance of the Chief Magistrate ought not to be entirely excluded.” In the end, though, they made a decision to give, even for treason, the pardon power to the president alone.

The move would mark another controversial pardon for Trump and could raise questions as an increasing number of the president's political allies have landed themselves in legal jeopardy. Asked if a pardon was about Comey, Conway said no. House of Representatives Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement, "This pardon sends a troubling signal to the president's allies that obstructing justice will be rewarded".

The first thing I learned was that John Rizzo, the CIA's former general counsel and an agency lawyer for over 30 years, disputed prosecutor Fitzgerald's assertion that Valerie Plame had been a super-secret covert agent, not well known outside of the intelligence community, and that the leak of her name had caused grave, if unspecified, harm to America's national security. "Libby's problem was with the Justice Department". His record since his conviction is similarly unblemished, and he continues to be held in high regard by his colleagues and peers.

Last second penalty puts Real Madrid into Champions League semi-finals
Jurgen Klopp's men hammered the table toppers 3-0 at Anfield, before coming from behind to win 2-1 at The Etihad. Paul will be in the hot-seat for kick-off (?) but we'll be building up to the draw throughout the morning.

The president has regularly blasted the whole Russian Federation investigation as invasive and "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"
