Trump Lawyer Arranged Payoff To Playboy Playmate For Republican Fundraiser

According to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story, and The New York Times, the $1.6 million payment to the woman was brokered by attorney Michael Cohen - President Donald Trump's personal lawyer whose offices were raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday.

The FBI raided Cohen's office earlier this week, reportedly seeking documents related to payoffs he had orchestrated to women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump.

Broidy agreed to pay the $1.6 million over two years, and completed the first instalment in December, the person said.

Broidy said Cohen contacted him after being contacted by the woman's attorney, Keith Davidson.Broidy said he retained Cohen because Cohen had a prior relationship with Davidson.

Trump has denied the women's allegations.

'It is unfortunate that this personal matter between two consenting adults is the subject of national discussion just because of Michael Cohen's involvement, ' Broidy complained in his statement to the paper. Davidson did not immediately respond to request for comment.
