The student was taken to the police station where he was released to his parents.

Police said the 8-year-old student brought a kitchen knife to school and randomly slashed fellow students, The Associated Press reported. He was released to his parents due to his age.

The threats have been taken seriously by police and the man is expected to appear in court on Tuesday with a view to being remanded in custody over the offence, West Copenhagen Police have confirmed.

The boy allegedly cut three children with the knife in less than a minute. "We're not sure exactly why he came to school with a knife", Chief Perry Beise said. The case will be forwarded to prosecutors, KARE said.
