A day after BJP workers created a ruckus in Mysuru after party state president BS Yeddyurappa announced that his son BY Vijayendra will not be contesting from the Varuna constituency, the party appointed Vijayendra as the state general secretary of the Yuva Morcha, in an effort to placate the angry workers.

Varuna had become a constituency in 2008 following delimitation and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had been representing it since then.

"Vijayendra is not filing his nomination today, a common man (party worker) will be fielded and he will be filing the nomination", Yeddyurappa said. Supporters of Vijayendra raised slogans against Amit Shah and other leaders during BS Yeddyurappa's rally in Mysuru. Ticket was announced from Varuna, still he was working there. The central leadership was told that Yeddyurappa's son, Raghavendra is already an MLA from Shikharipur.

PM Modi has failed to protect our daughters. "You will see Congress flag protecting people there", he added. The previous governments were indulging in corruption, he alleged as he lauded the Modi government.

Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on IT raids says that, "They (BJP) are misusing IT department against our leaders". He was followed by D V Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar - for just over 300 days each - in the BJP government.

The central leadership appears to have taken this into consideration and Vijayendra's name did not figure in the list announced on Monday. This is worst and cheap tricks of them. Pamphlets in Kannada calling for a NOTA campaign against the BJP candidate are being circulated on social media. Vijayendra, Yeddyurappa's second son, had been campaigning in Varuna for the past two weeks.

The Varuna seat was held by Siddaramaiah for the last 10 years and was vacated to allow Yathindra to launch his political career.

While addressing party members in Shivamogga, Yeddyurappa also urged BJP members to not endorse NOTA and instead to ensure that the party candidate emerges victorious in Varuna. The BJP went into damage control mode and is rushing Prakash Javadekar and Muralidhar Rao to sort out the problem.

Yeddyurappa and other party leaders later went into a huddle at a Mysore hotel to find a suitable replacement but no decision had been taken till late in the evening.
