Cosby found guilty of sexual assault

Constand, the only Cosby accuser whose case has triggered criminal charges, took the stand for the prosecution over two days, as she did during the first trial.

Cosby accuser Janice Baker-Kinney, who alleges he drugged and raped her in 1982, says in a statement she's relieved "this toxic chain of silence has been broken" and says the women can move forward "with heads held high".

Eighty-year-old Cosby faced three counts of aggravated indecent assault for the alleged 2004 drugging and molesting Andrea Costand, the former director of operations for the women's basketball team at Temple University, where for years Cosby was a trustee and major financial donor. At times, they rebuked strong questioning from the defense, such as when attorney Kathleen Bliss asked Thomas whether she was testifying to help Constand.

The jury of seven men and five women in Norristown, Pennsylvania delivered the verdict during their second day of deliberations that began late Wednesday morning, following a two-week trial.

Trump Attorney Michael Cohen to Take the Fifth in Stormy Daniels Lawsuit
Cohen and his attorney, Brent Blakely, have argued that the Daniels civil case should ultimately be sent to private arbitration. Fox News host Sean Hannity , who was also revealed in court as one of Cohen's clients, has made a similar argument.

Cosby was allowed to go home after surrendering his passport but will be sentenced at a later date.

Prosecutor Kristen Feden seized on the characterization of Constand as a scheming con artist during closing arguments, saying it was Cosby who deployed his wholesome TV image to gain the trust of women he planned to incapacitate and assault. They called five other women to testify against Cosby, all who claimed that they were assaulted by the former TV star.

The conviction follows years of allegations against Cosby from multiple women. Cosby has admitted that he and Constand had sexual contact in his house around 2004, but he has long maintained it was consensual.

The jury's decision comes less than a year after a different jury could not come to a decision. The Jury also wanted to hear the testimony read to them from defense witness Marguerite Jackson. Cosby, who had been silent throughout the trial, shouted back. "I feel like I'm dreaming". She testified that Cosby, a powerful trustee at Temple, drugged her and sexually assaulted her when she visited his home to ask for career advice.

Pompeo wants to switch Australia ambassador pick to South Korea
His potential confirmation as South Korea ambassador will still take time, however, in part because of the need for more vetting. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said she had been informed of the decision by Acting Secretary of State John Sullivan on Tuesday.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done. Jackson's testimony bolstered Cosby's efforts to show Constand made up the allegations against him to extort a big civil settlement.

Constand was in the court room in Norristown, just outside Philadelphia, as the verdict was read out to stifled sobs in the gallery.

The defense's star witness was a former colleague of Constand who says Constand spoke of leveling false sexual assault accusations against a high-profile person for the goal of filing a civil suit.
