The Senate Judiciary Committee has just released nearly 2,000 pages of transcripts from the meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower in 2016 - a meeting critics have used to try and prove collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

That being said, there is no federal statute against "collusion".

The excerpts also shed light on the anxiety that rippled through President Trump's orbit a year later, as news of the meeting became public and his aides and lawyers tried to manage the story.

An Agalarov employee testified to the committee that the Russian mogul tried to get Trump a meeting with Putin when the Miss Universe pageant, which Trump owned, was held in Moscow in 2013.

In addition, the transcripts reflect an aggressive Russian outreach to Trump both before and after the June 2016 meeting, including an effort to arrange a follow-up get-together that November with members of his transition team.

Trump Jr. added he had "a lot of stuff" on his plate at the time and "didn't want to deal with anything right now".

Donald Trump Jr has told the Senate Judiciary Committee he could not remember whether he had discussed the Russian Federation investigation with his father, according to transcripts released of his interview with the panel.

Trump Jr. said he does not know if his father uses a blocked number, and does not know whether or not this blocked number could have been him.

Participants who attended the Trump Tower meeting, including Donald Trump Jr., claimed the discussion centered on Veselnitskaya's lobbying push to roll back the Magnitsky Act, which would subsequently allow Americans to adopt Russian children.

In part, that's because the existence of the meeting itself - which did not come for more than a year after it took place - was one of the most significant revelations that have been uncovered after the Russian Federation probes got underway.
