Seven people have been killed and 20 hurt after a volcano near Guatemala City exploded in a fiery display of ash and lava.

Over 50 Taliban leaders killed in USA operation
Under surveillance by the Marines, the Taliban fighters returned to their Helmand stronghold, a center for poppy cultivation. IS, which is trying to make inroads in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq propaganda service.

One video published by news outlet Telediario, purportedly taken in the El Rodeo village, showed three bodies strewn atop the remnants of the flow as rescuers arrived to attend to an elderly man caked from head to toe in ash and mud.

Firefighters said late Sunday that they had seen some people who were trapped in the area, but roads leading there were cut by pyroclastic flows and they had been unable to reach them.

Three bodies lay partially buried in ash-colored debris from the volcano, which lies about 27 miles (44 kilometers) from Guatemala City.

The eruption forced the Guatemala City's La Aurora worldwide airport to shut down its only runway.

United States first lady Melania Trump to skip G7, North Korea summit
Some noted the similarity to Trump's voice, while others noted the fact that anyone could easily tweet from her account. Melania Trump came home six days later, on a Saturday, but her arrival wasn't witnessed by reporters on site.

The conical Volcan de Fuego reaches an altitude of 12,346 feet above sea level at its peak. Streets and houses were covered in the colonial town of Antigua, a popular tourist destination.

The Guatemalan military said it was providing assistance including clearing volcanic ash from the airport's runway.

Photos from the scene showed massive plumes of black smoke in the air. "Where we saw the lava fall, we ran to a hillside" to escape, she added. "That could cause more mud flows and nearby rivers to burst their banks", said Eddy Sanchez, director of Guatemala's seismological, volcanic and meteorological institute.

Mario Cruz, a spokesman for the volunteer firefighter corps, said 3,100 people had evacuated the area so far.

Days later, she was checked into the hospital for kidney problems and stayed for a week despite the typical recovery taking a day. The fact that the first lady has barely been seen throughout May has been a hot topic of conversation on social media.

Officials have advised citizens to wear masks due to the falling ash.
