Neymar will play in Brazil's vital World Cup match against Costa Rica on Friday despite injury fears, coach Tite has confirmed.

This comes after Brazil's opening World Cup game, a 1-1 World Cup draw with Switzerland on Sunday.

The Brazilian soccer confederation said it wasn't a serious injury and Neymar would be back in practice on Wednesday, but doubts about his fitness only increased.

The federation says Neymar has been in pain since the team's 1-1 draw against Switzerland, when he was consistently fouled.

Kansai Electric Power said no irregularities had been detected at the Mihama, Takahama and Ohi nuclear plants after the quake. All trains and subways across Osaka city were halted, and the bullet train that links Osaka to Tokyo was stopped.

The official FIFA Twitter Brazil reporter also provided an update on Neymar's latest condition via the tournament website following Tuesday's training session and press conference.

But after around 10 minutes he limped away with a member of staff to receive some treatment after looking clearly uncomfortable on the field.

Neymar then set alarm bells ringing when he hobbled out of training on Tuesday.

Neymar, whose first season with Paris Saint-Germain ended in February after undergoing surgery to address a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot, made his return in the warm-up friendlies prior to the start of the tournament. "He complained of pain and so he went to physio and he will train normally tomorrow".

Folha de Sao Paulo, an influential newspaper in Brazil, said the performance of the Brazilian team, led by coach Tite, was "off", and another newspaper, Estado de Sao Paulo, indicated that the team's performance in the 2018 World Cup was "below expectations".

"As the training was a recovery session, he was referred to physiotherapy. He is a very important player for us".

Given the success of Switzerland's rugged approach, Neymar can expect more of the same against Costa Rica and Serbia with the pressure upped on Brazil to rediscover the form they showed in qualifying. All of us have to help the team reach its potential but we have to respect individual characteristics.

In their desperation for a breakthrough in the final stages against the Swiss, Neymar's team-mates consistently looked to their star man to provide the final finish or pass without success.
