Swiss coach unimpressed with celebrations in win over Serbia

The coaches of Serbia and Switzerland only want to talk about football, not about an entrenched political dispute casting a shadow over their teams' World Cup showdown in Russian Federation.

"You should never mix politics and football", Switzerland coach Vladimir Petkovic said.

Take a look through the gallery above to see the best pictures as Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri both perform Albanian Eagle celebrations after scoring for Switzerland against Serbia.

Shaqiri took to the field for the match with a Kosovan flag on one of his boots, and the trio are likely to get a hostile reception from a Serbia-dominated crowd. Not between Swiss and Serbian fans, but between Albanian and Serbian supporters.

Kosovo gained independence from Serbia in 2008, however, Serbia still reject this.

A day later, President Ram Nath Kovind approved Governor N N Vohra's proposal to impose Governor's rule in the state. The two-month long pilgrimage to the 3,880 metre high cave shrine of Amarnath commences on June 28.

Coach Vladimir Petkovic brought on attackers Breel Embolo and Mario Gavranovic in a bid to force a victor, and Gavranovic forced a smart save from Stojkovic from a close range effort with 10 minutes remaining. "Of course we want to win".

Serbia are the lowest ranked team in Group E but come into this game in pole position after their 1-0 win over Costa Rica, while the Swiss earned a creditable 1-1 draw with joint-favourites Brazil in their opening game.

During the game Shaqiri wore athletic shoes that depicted the Kosovo flag of Kosovo on the back of one heel and the Swiss flag on the other.

Xhaka was born to Kosovo-Albanian parents who were forced to flee the fall of Yugoslavia in 1990.

"I don't have any comments", Serbia coach Mladen Krstajic said.

Neymar will play in Brazil's vital World Cup match against Costa Rica on Friday despite injury fears, coach Tite has confirmed. The federation says Neymar has been in pain since the team's 1-1 draw against Switzerland , when he was consistently fouled.

Valon Behrami formed another luxurious axis in the heart of Switzerland's midfield, building on the sensational performance he put in against Brazil on Sunday, as he anchored the middle of the park judiciously, bringing composure and assurance to the midfield.

The reaction of some Serbian players has also been sharp. The hard-working striker (and goal-scorer) Aleksandar Mitrovic disrupted Switzerland's build-up play, and Nemanja Matic orchestrated the game while protecting the battle-hardened back four.

Serbia went in front in the fifth minute when Aleksandar Mitrovic, after missing a header moments earlier, rose above a Swiss defender and wonderfully guided a Dusan Tadic cross from the right past goalkeeper Yann Sommer and into the far corner.
