Chalian's remarks come the same day Strzok faced off with GOP members of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte asked the audience to imagine being investigated by an agent who "hated you" and "disparaged you in all manner of ways".

Ex-FBI attorney Lisa Page has agreed to testify before the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees this week, The Hill reported Thursday.

The incident was one of several occasions throughout the hours-long hearing that Strzok faced personal attacks from Republicans including Gohmert, as well as Jim Jordan of Ohio, Trey Gowdy of SC and Bob Goodlatte of Virginia. And many Democrats say actions taken by law enforcement during the campaign season - including announcing a reopening of the investigation into Clinton just days before the election - actually wound up harming the Democratic candidate and aiding the Republican candidate, Trump.

Plus, he said, both the Clinton and Russian Federation investigations were handled by large teams that "would not tolerate any improper behavior in me anymore than I would tolerate it in them".

Strzok, who helped lead investigations of Hillary Clinton's emails and ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, will testify publicly Thursday before Congress after previously testifying before lawmakers in a closed session.

Just as sacred, said Peter Strzok on Thursday in the halls of Congress, was his own right to curse the president of the United States and the odours of the Americans who love him, even while heading the investigation against him.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok had his moment on an extremely hot seat Thursday morning in a contentious hearing that quickly devolved into angry yelling, interjections and parliamentary maneuvering.

"Strzok's mission today, is try to walk this line of 'I have personal political views, it didn't impact my work at all, '" Chalian said. Your losers-and there were some at the Department of Justice and the FBI who behaved appallingly in their investigations into Clinton's email probe and the Russian Federation counterintelligence investigation that is now being headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

And though Strzok clearly despised Trump, a recent thorough report from the Justice Department inspector general found no evidence that this bias affected any investigation or the election (and, of course, Trump won).

"Let me be clear", Strzok told more than three dozen members of Congress, as if his online activity hadn't been clear enough.

Trudeau, who was called "weak" by Trump after the G7 meeting, pledged to boost Canadian troop numbers 540, from around 450 now . Asked for comments on Tusk's remarks, Trump said that the United States did "have a lot of allies".

Strzok denied his political opinions influenced the investigations.

Strzok said he didn't have to answer the question because, despite being subpoenaed by the committee, he had previously said he would speak voluntarily.

During his time, Gohmert had repeatedly asked Strozk questions about the Hillary Clinton private email server probe that he headed up but Strzok said he could not recall much of what the congressman was asking.

"Because, while it's certainly possible that Mr. Giuliani is exaggerating or engaging in some sort of puffery, the reality is that also given the things that were going on, given timing that the laptop was there and he was talking about that in the context of a big surprise, it caused me great concern that he had information about that - that he should not have had", Strzok said. Within the FBI, those officials were often referred to as the "skinny group" because then-FBI Director James Comey and others sought to keep a tight grip on details of those investigations.

Goodlatte said he issued a subpoena to compel Page to talk to lawmakers Wednesday, but her attorney said she would not appear.

The sharp tone of Strzok's statement set the stage for a contentious hearing following hours of closed-door questioning last week.
