Tropical Storm Gordon will bring minor impacts to Northwest Florida Tuesday

Tropical Storm Gordon is barrelling toward the central US Gulf Coast, where it is expected to become a hurricane and bring high winds and heavy rain to the region, the National Hurricane Centre says.

Gordon is about 190 miles east-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River and packing maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, according to the 8 a.m. advisory Tuesday from the National Hurricane Center. The storm is expected to reach hurricane strength when it hits the Gulf Coast, including coastal MS, by late Tuesday.
