A US judge on Friday ordered Georgia to allow some 3,000 recently naturalized USA citizens to vote in elections next week after their voting registrations were put on hold, according to a ruling filed in federal court in Atlanta.

The preliminary injunction she issued required the state to change its procedures immediately to allow those flagged, some 3,100 individuals, to prove their citizenship more easily, with a US passport or similar documentation and only to a poll manager. "To try to tie the candidacy of the Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp to the scourge of racism and even lynchings?" Kemp hails from Republicans' conservative wing and embraces President Trump.

Georgia must make changes to its procedures to make it easier for people flagged under a state law to vote, a federal judge ruled Friday.

Voting rights groups had sued over Georgia's practice of rejecting absentee ballots and applications because of a mismatched signature is unconstitutional.

Kemp's campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

In a recent campaign statement, Kemp also said that minority participation is up and turnout records have been exceeded during his tenure as secretary of state.

But according to the Cook Report , which analyzes individual House races, the Democrats only have a net 16-seat polling advantage. Trump's campaign said Sunday that he will hold rallies in Florida and West Virginia later this week.

"I want everybody to pay attention to this: They have literally been doing the opposite of what they are saying", Obama said, noting scores of GOP votes to repeal the law.

Kemp's office said voters have several ways to address questions or complaints: a dedicated call center, an online portal implemented by Kemp and an email system for addressing issues.

But Ross' order said that process wasn't working because some citizens have been turned away from the polls.
