The Centre-run System of Air Quality Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) recorded the AQI at 410. The PM2.5 (particles in the air with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometres) level was recorded at 243, while the PM10 was recorded at 372 in Delhi on Tuesday. However, smoke from fireworks would get trapped, forcing levels of particles in the air to become significantly higher in the morning, taking air quality to the "severe" category.

Twenty-eight areas in the city recorded "poor" air quality, six recorded "very poor" quality, while two others recorded "moderate" air quality, PTI reported.
