California wildfires turn deadly as tens of thousands evacuate

Fanned by high winds and low humidity, the fires spread rapidly Thursday and overnight Friday.

The Woolsey fire destroyed dozens homes on Friday, including Caitlyn Jenner's, forcing total evacuations of Malibu and Hidden Hills in one of the worst L.A. blazes in recent memory. Evacuations have been ordered for the Camarillo Springs area, and Highway 101 is closed near Pleasant Valley Road.

Evacuations are now under way, with tens of thousands of people having already been forced to flee their homes, and hot and dry weather conditions are exacerbating the problem. The FBI was seeking to build a profile of the gunman, war veteran Ian David Long, 28, who burst into the bar late Wednesday, killing 12 people before turning the gun on himself.

Travel was limited on U.S. Highway 101 in the county, state highway patrol troopers said. Pepperdine University in Malibu also canceled classes. The reality star's handsome home in the Malibu Hills was destroyed in the Woolsey fire, which is burning out of control.

Mary of Oak Park told CBS2 Friday morning that she and her family were forced to pick up and leave their home at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a robocall from the county regarding the mandatory evacuation.
